BILL GREENE: The best way to find a lawyer is to avoid the worst ways to find a lawyer; telephone books, television commercial, bad way to find a lawyer.

BRIAN EISEN: When I see a lawyer advertising on TV or with three pages in the yellow pages, I always wonder why did they need to do this? If they're that good at their job, why are they on television; why do they have to have big spreads in the yellow pages?

We don't need to advertise on television to get clients. Greene and Eisen's reputation as zealous courtroom advocates on behalf of patients who have been injured by medical negligence speaks for itself.

One of the terrible consequences of those ads is that when we walk into the courtroom, jurors have a negative perception of all medical malpractice trial attorneys. It's something we have to overcome in every case.

And the fact is if some of these guys who advertise on TV actually went into the courtroom a bit more often, they'd probably realize that what they're doing on television is actually detrimental to victims of medical negligence.
